Is Sour Milk Good for Diabetics?

Fermented milk usually has a high-fat content, unhealthy fat, which, when taken, can result in heart diseases. So we recommend that when taking milk, take those with lean products.

Choosing the right milk for a diabetic patient depends on what the person wants. If you wish to reduce carbohydrates in your meal, it is better to go for almond milk and flax milk, as they contain almost zero carbohydrates.

The truth is that all cow milk contains carbohydrates. So if you will take cow milk, the skimmed one is preferable as they contain low fat. However, they are not recommended for people who are lactose intolerant. 

According to a study in 2011, food high in low-fat milk products has lowered the risk of developing diabetes in postmenopausal women. The result was seen more in women who are obese.

Another research showed that high-fat dairy products like butter, milk, yogurt, cheese, and cream have a low risk of developing diabetes.

It is recommended to take 1.2 to 1.4 liters of milk or sour milk daily. The normal milk should have a maximum of 0.7g per 100 grams. Sour milk should have 0.7 gram and nothing more than 6 grams of carbohydrate per 100 grams.
